Santa Pau a medieval town
Ballooning, the experience to be lived
If you arrive early in the afternoon, you can stroll through the alleys of the medieval town of Santa Pau, declared Historic-Artistic Complex in 1971. In addition to a typically medieval facade, with walls, irregular streets and evocative corners, the town has buildings of Architectural value is remarkable, although the main virtues of the enclosure are the dominant austerity and the practical and functional character that reveals the stones.
The valley of Santa Pau has an exceptional natural value, since 81% of the territory is Protected Area and is part of the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone with points of special interest such as the Croscat Volcano and the volcanic greens, the Santa Margarida Volcano , La Fageda d'en Jordà ...
In the evening you will dine at the tasting menu at the Masnou restaurant, and you will spend the night at the Can Menció Pension, located in the porticoed square of the town.
The activity begins bright and early in the morning (in the summer at 07.00, in spring and autumn at 07.30 and in winter at 08.00) with a pick-up from passengers’ accommodation. Then we head for our installations and our take-off point.
Enjoy a cup of coffee and pastry on us, as you watch us prepare the balloon. Take as many photos as you wish or help us as the balloon inflates like a majestic colourful sail. The wind will decide our flight path and in all we will be in the air for between 1 h and 1h 30 min (approx.)
During the flight we will drink a toast in pink cava, which symbolizes the colour of the volcanoes below, and try a slice of coca de llardons, a delicious local savoury cake.
The flight is perfect for taking aerial photos that will provide you with a memory for life.
Once back on solid ground, our ground team – who will have been following our flight path all the way – will pick you up in a 4×4 vehicle and take you back to the installations of Vol de Coloms, which are for exclusive use by our passengers and their companions. Here you will be able to enjoy a hearty cooked breakfast of bread and tomato, Santa Pau haricot beans and botifarra (the Catalan national dish!), desserts from Cooperativa la Fageda, wine and ratafia, a local herbal liquor.
It is important to underline the fact that the baskets of our balloons have gates, which make loading up easy for older people and for those in wheelchairs.
