A gastronomic experience in La Garrotxa after flying with us! Dinner at the 1 Michelin star restaurant Ca l'Enric and sleep at the Mas La Ferreria in Vall de Bianya rural hotel.
CAN MENCIÓ PENSION
The first night you will stay this small pension, located in the arched main square of the medieval village of Santa Pau. It has 12 double rooms and one family room. All of them has a private bathroom.
This pension also has a living room with a fireplace and a terrace with views.
Can Menció in Santa Pau does not have a restaurant. However you can go to one of the restaurants in town. There you can taste different typical dishes of volcanic cuisine.
What you will find on the ground floor of the same accommodation is a coffee and a pastry shop. It is the only one in Santa Pau and under the shadow of the laps, you can contemplate the Plaza Mayor tasting one of its sandwiches or cakes.
The Can Menció pension is 10 minutes far from our facilities.
The following morning a hot-air-balloon flight over La Garrotxa awaits you.
In the morning (between 7 a.m and 8 a.m, according to the season) we will meet in Vol de Coloms facilities, where you can have a coffee as you watch us prepare the balloon for its flight.
All our baskets have a door so, they are accessible to all kinds of public.
The balloon flight lasts approximately 1 hour to 1 hour 30 min. The wind decides our flight path.
During the flight we make a toast with pink cava, which symbolizes the colour of the volcanoes and try a slice of coca de llardons, a delicious local cake.
The hot air balloon ride is perfect for taking aerial photos that will provide you with a memory for life.
Once back on solid ground, our ground team, who have been following our flight, pick us up in a 4×4 vehicle and take us to enjoy a hearty cooked breakfast of bread and tomato, Santa Pau haricot beans and botifarra a Catalan national dish, desserts from Cooperativa la Fageda, wine and ratafia, a local herbal liquor.
Finally, we give you a flight diploma, signed by the pilot.
MAS LA FERRERIA HOTEL**** AND CA L'ENRIC RESTAURANT*
After the adventure, you can head for your hotel, Mas la Ferreria, in La Vall de Bianya, located right next to the Romanesque church of Santa Margarida de Bianya.
This small four-star hotel has just nine singular and comfortable rooms and is an ideal place to rest and enjoy the peace and quiet of the natural surroundings of the valley.
Your evening meal will be in Ca L’Enric, a one-star Michelin restaurant situated just a few minutes away. Here you will enjoy a tasting menu that will not fail to stimulate all of your five senses.
The restaurant is in a restored nineteenth-century farmhouse with luxurious decoration that contrasts with the typical austerity of the rural houses in the area. Its cuisine is creative and evocative, replete with captivating flavours. The Juncà brothers’ cooking is original and is based on local products.
The following morning you can eat on the hotel’s terrace and enjoy magnificent views over the valley. Then, there will still be time for a dip in the saltwater swimming pool, in the midst of the green pastures and silence that characterizes the valley.
